Get To Know Dr. Ami
Dr. Ami Inoue grew up in Mankato, Minnesota as the youngest sibling in her family. Her intrigue for the world of dentistry first began as a child when receiving extra care for her baby teeth. Unlike other children, she truly enjoyed her visits to the dentist. She became so fascinated by older kids getting braces that she began fashioning her own retainers out of fruit roll ups and paper clips. To this day, Dr. Ami’s passion for orthodontics, love for art, and natural curiosity have never waned.
Dr. Ami completed her undergraduate education at Creighton University in Omaha, later taking a year off to teach English in Japan. She returned to Creighton University School of Dentistry and went on to Marquette University in Milwaukee for her orthodontic residency.
As a part of her residency program, Dr. Ami received more than two years of additional education and training, specifically focused on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. This training means Dr. Ami is an expert in the field of moving teeth, and can offer many different types of treatment for her patients.
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Ami is spending time with her family — laughing with her three daughters — dining out and traveling with her husband Geoff. She is aIso a dog lover, former figure skater, and enjoys gardening and learning about new flowers and plants.

What to Expect at Your First Visit
When you first arrive at our office, you’ll be greeted by a member of our friendly and professional team. You’ll then be able to sit back and relax before your appointment begins and enjoy the modern and calming ambiance.
As part of your initial consultation, we will take digital images of your mouth to get a complete look at your oral health. You’ll meet with the doctor for an initial exam and complimentary consultation. We spend the extra time to address your concerns and smile goals, and to discuss the state of your dental health with you before outlining a unique treatment plan tailored to your needs.
At the end of the appointment, we’ll answer any insurance questions you may have and provide estimates and information about what to expect from your orthodontic treatment.
Where did the idea for the name Hive originate? As the owner and doctor, I wanted something that was easy to remember, and also gave my office a unique identity. I reached out to Milwaukee native David Jensen, who also happens to be a great designer, and he asked me about some of my hobbies, interests, and ideas. After discussing physical landmarks, cultural influences, an interest in gardening and pollinators, and a personal value in making eco-friendly choices when possible, we landed on Hive. It was the perfect conglomeration of all the things we discussed, and bees just happen to have been a personal motif in my life for a number of years.
Our office, also known as the Hive, is designed to be welcoming for all ages. We like to think of our team as a family, and our goal is to help you, whether you come to us with a little anxiety or buzzing with excitement. We promise not to sting, and at the end of the day, I am proud to be the “queen” of a female owned and operated business, setting an example not just for my three daughters, but hopefully for all of the younger generation.
